Current release focus

Explorer experienceFile Explorer, Project Explorer, and Package Explorer now work as a coordinated tabbed surface with workspace-aware defaults.
Java workflow qualityRuntime-aware compilation and diagnostics better reflect configured versions, including Java 8 compatibility and Java 21+ scenarios.
Debugging reliabilityVariable inspection is improved for loop-scoped and conditional values in Java debugging flows.
Project actionsSupported projects now surface clearer actions such as Deploy To, Run Unit Tests…, and Debug Unit Tests… from project-oriented explorers.
Source controlBranch visibility and common operations such as push, fetch, pull, and sync are more consistent inside the IDE.
User guidanceWelcome, documentation, release notes, and privacy messaging now better reflect the current platform surface.
Why this matters: the product now does a better job of matching available actions to the active workspace, project type, and runtime configuration instead of relying on one-size-fits-all defaults.

Platform capabilities reflected in recent updates

Release history

Latest

Workspace-aware productivity update

  • Refined explorer behavior so Java workspaces can expose both Project Explorer and Package Explorer by default, while non-project folders stay focused on File Explorer.
  • Improved explorer tab behavior, hover states, and discoverability in narrow layouts.
  • Filtered irrelevant root-level hidden entries from project-oriented trees to reduce noise.
  • Aligned default explorer state with workspace identity so previous sessions do not override new workspace behavior.
Workflow

Run, test, deploy, and source control improvements

  • Updated project and package explorers to use Deploy To for supported deployment targets.
  • Added project-level Run Unit Tests… and Debug Unit Tests… actions where supported.
  • Improved source control integration for branch visibility, fetch, push, sync, and remote handling.
  • Expanded server-configuration controls and project-type-aware enablement of deploy actions.
Java

Runtime and diagnostics compatibility update

  • Removed hardcoded runtime assumptions so compile and diagnostics flows can use workspace or project runtime preferences.
  • Improved Java 8 library and module visibility in package-oriented navigation.
  • Resolved Java 21 virtual-thread related compilation and diagnostics issues in the browser workflow.
  • Improved debugger parsing for object and variable evaluation inside loops and conditional branches.

Core platform milestones

  • Initial public browser IDE with editor, workspace support, terminal, AI integration, and backend services.
  • Documentation and onboarding surfaces published under /docs/.
  • Subscription-aware usage tracking introduced across executions, builds, debugging, and AI assistance.
